Privacy Policy

Debt Dissolver - Debt Payoff Planner

Effective Date: September 26, 2026

Debt Dissolver helps you compare ways to pay off your debts and track your progress. It is built so that your finances never leave your phone. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app.

Our Core Principles: At a Glance

💾

Your Debts Stay on Your Device

Your debts, balances, interest rates, budget and check-ins are stored on your phone or tablet and are never sent to us.

🔒

Nothing Shared Unless You Choose

Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are sent only if you turn on “Help improve Debt Dissolver”. It is off until you do.

📢

Ads, With Your Consent

The app is free and shows Google ads. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first.

🎛️

You're in Control

Change your choices at any time in Settings → Privacy, or delete the app to remove its data from your device.

The Details

Debt Dissolver is made by Countersunk Development Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15961178). We are the data controller for the optional diagnostics described below. You can reach us at info@countersunk.dev.

Who receives your data. For the optional diagnostics, Google (Firebase) processes data on our behalf, under Google’s data processing terms. For advertising, Google (AdMob) acts as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. Google may process this data in the United States and other countries; transfers from the UK are protected by the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to Google’s standard contractual clauses.

Everything You Enter

  • Debts, balances, interest rates, minimum payments, promotions and transfer offers
  • Your monthly budget, settings, saved scenarios and check-ins
  • Reminder schedules (reminders are local notifications created on your device)

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. It is included in your device's own backups (for example iCloud or Google backup) if you have them turned on. Deleting the app deletes it from your device; your backup provider's settings decide how long backups keep it.

If, and only if, you turn on Help improve Debt Dissolver (during setup or in Settings → Privacy), the app sends the following to Google Firebase. It is off by default, and switching it off stops collection straight away.

Firebase Analytics (Google)

  • Which screens you open (by screen, never with the names or amounts on them)
  • A small, fixed set of events: a debt added (its kind only, such as “credit card”), a plan followed, a check-in saved, a debt cleared, the loan helper or loan calculator used, reminders turned on, and a schedule exported (CSV or Excel)
  • Standard Firebase events that it records automatically, such as the app being opened for the first time, sessions and engagement time, and app or operating-system updates
  • A random app instance ID, your device model, operating system and app version, and an approximate region derived from your IP address
  • Analytics does not use your device's advertising identifier, and its data is not used to personalise ads

Firebase Crashlytics (Google)

  • Details of crashes and errors: the kind of error and where in the app it happened (stack traces), the device model, operating system and app version, and the device's state at the time (such as free memory)
  • A random installation ID, and the same app instance ID as Analytics, so a deletion request covers both

Never Sent

Names, amounts, balances, interest rates, dates or anything else you type are never included in analytics events or crash reports. Crash reports carry only the type of error, never its message. Reports made while the switch is off are deleted from your device when you turn it on, not sent.

Lawful basis: your consent. Retention: event-level analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for about 90 days, after which they are deleted. Aggregated, anonymous reports (for example, how many people used the loan calculator last month) may be kept for longer.

The app shows banner ads from Google AdMob on some screens. To show and measure ads, Google may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and which ads you see and tap. Google explains its use of this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

  • In the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before any ads are requested. You can change your choice in Settings → Privacy → Privacy choices.
  • On iPhone and iPad, the app asks for permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, ads are not personalised using your device's identifier.
  • If you don't consent to personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised ads.

If you export a payment schedule as a CSV or Excel file, it goes only where you choose to share it. We never receive a copy.

  • Notifications (optional): used for pay-day reminders and check-in nudges, scheduled on your device
  • Tracking (iPhone and iPad, optional): asked by Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, for personalised ads only

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask to access or delete the diagnostics data linked to your app, and you can withdraw consent at any time by turning off Help improve Debt Dissolver.

  • Because we don't know who you are, include your app ID when you contact us. It is shown in Settings → Privacy, whether the switch is on or off.
  • Your debts and settings never leave your device, so you can delete them yourself by deleting the app.
  • If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Debt Dissolver is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Please check this page from time to time; the date at the top shows when it last changed.
